Redwings

Redwings Horse Sanctuary was established in 1984 and has grown to be the largest registered horse welfare charity in the UK. The charity works to save horses, ponies, donkeys and mules whose future would otherwise be bleak, and is currently responsible for over 2,000 rescued horses and donkeys, including 700 living out on permanent loan in Guardian homes.

Redwings is 100% funded by donations, and our supporters help us to provide sanctuary care for equines rescued from situations of neglect or abuse with an in-house Horse Hospital and veterinary team, and a specialist Behaviour Team who support horses who may be fearful or semi-feral.

The charity also campaigns on issues of horse health and leads on Strangles Awareness Week (an international week of action against the infectious disease), as well as works to raise awareness of a variety ofissues including equine weight management, the impact of fireworks and the management of equine parasites.
